Process: Richard usually spends 2-3 weeks throwing and making the pots. When they have completely dried out they are carefully packed into the kiln and fired to 1000°C in the Bisque Firing. At this stage the pots are still porous and this is when they are glazed. They are also decorated with oxides or slips with the decoration echoing the movement of the making process of the wheel. The kiln is then fired to 1280°C, which takes about 13 hours to reach. The whole process for each pot from start to finish is about 3-4 weeks.
